Ingredients:

2 tablespoons olive oil
-
1 onion, thinly sliced

1 clove garlic, minced

1 1/2 cups apple cider, divided

1/4 cup cider vinegar
-
2 teaspoons fresh thyme
-
1 cup diced apple
-
2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
-
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
-
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
-
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
-
1/2 teaspoon pepper

2 slices Hormel® Natural Choice® Original Bacon

3 slices whole wheat bread, toasted

4 slices Hormel® Natural Choice® Smoked Deli Turkey

4 slices tomato
-
2 leaves lettuce
Directions:

Cook bacon according to package directions; drain on paper towels.

Spread each slice toast evenly with jam. Place 2 slices turkey on 1 slice toast.

Cut 1 slice bacon in half; lay 2 pieces on top of turkey. Place 2 slices tomato and 1 leaf lettuce on bacon. Top with 1 slice toast. Repeat layers.

To make Apple and Onion Caramelized Jam, in medium saucepan, heat oil over medium heat. Add onion; sauté 15 to 20 minutes or until lightly golden brown. Add garlic. Cook 1 minute. Stir in 3/4 cup cider, the vinegar and thyme. Reduce heat to low; cook, stirring frequently, 30 minutes.

Add apple, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, pepper and remaining 3/4 cup cider to saucepan. Cook, stirring frequently, 10 minutes or until apple is soft and mixture is jam-like consistency. Remove from heat. Cool completely before using. Refrigerate in airtight container.
