Food Tip
Flavored oils are an easy and relatively inexpensive way to add great natural flavors to foods. These oils, which can be made from canola, safflower, olive or other high-quality oils, can be made with virtually any herb, spice, citrus fruit or nut.
Meat Pairing Guide: Carved Chicken Breast
Grilled Chicken and Apple Honey Wheat Pizza
PREP TIME: 15 MINUTES, SERVES 1
This pizza tastes more like a sweet treat than a meal. Apples and shallots bring sweetness to the chicken, while the jalapeño adds just a hint of heat. The pita's grilled flavor along with the smoked Gouda enhances the meat's freshly grilled taste.
1 honey whole wheat pita bread, do not cut in half
1 tablespoon store-bought herbed garlic oil or Garlic-Thyme Oil*
2 slices smoked Gouda cheese
½ cup HORMEL® NATURAL CHOICE™ Carved Chicken Breast
½ thinly sliced onion
¼ cup apple slices
2 teaspoons dried oregano leaves
1 teaspoon minced HERDEZ® Jalapeño chile
Spread herbed garlic oil on top of pita bread. Layer cheese, carved chicken breast, onion, and apple slices on pita bread. Sprinkle with oregano and minced jalapeño. Place on baking sheet. Broil 5 to 7 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly. For a crisper crust, place pizza on a baking rack before placing on baking sheet.

Garlic-Thyme Oil
2 cups CARAPELLI® Extra Virgin Olive Oil, divided
4 cloves garlic, crushed
15 sprigs fresh thyme
Sterilized jar or bottle with tight-fitting lid
In small skillet over medium-low heat, warm ¼ cup olive oil. Add garlic cloves and thyme sprigs. Cook 3 to 4 minutes, being careful not to burn garlic. Remove pan from heat and cool. Place garlic and thyme in sterilized jar or bottle. Pour remaining olive oil into jar. Cover tightly with lid. Allow oil to steep 2 hours before using, shaking jar periodically. Test for desired flavoring. Once the preferred flavor is developed, strain oil and store in refrigerator.
