Eat Less, Move More

If losing weight is one of your goals, the formula is simple. You must burn more energy than you consume. But before you start yet another crash diet, consider a different approach. By gradually decreasing the number of calories you consume and increasing the amount you move, you will lose weight slowly and healthfully.

Think before you eat. Cut out mindless eating. Focus on being satisfied, not full. Are you really still hungry? Do you need that extra handful of nuts? That second brownie?

Keep in mind that moving more doesn't necessarily mean taking an aerobics class or even going to a gym, although those aren't bad ideas. Instead, try slowly incorporating exercise into your day. If you live or work in a building with an elevator, take the stairs instead. It may seem like an insignificant activity, but chances are you'll be surprised at how winded you are the first time you do it. Keep at it and not only will you be able to sprint up those stairs eventually, but you'll be looking for the stairs wherever you go!
